Experimental Particle Physics and Tracking Detectors

While particle physicists have successfully discovered the predicted fundamental particles from the Standard Model, more is left to do. Searches for new particles rely on tracking their trajectories with fine spatial resolution. The Compact Muon Solenoid collaboration is collecting more data at the Large Hadron Collider and building a new tracking detector. The design and construction of portions of this detector will be discussed.
