The microscopes and equipment are very expensive and easy to damage. Therefore rules have been established to keep these instruments in working order so that everyone can benefit from them and enjoy exploring the microscopic world.
In order to use microscopes independently potential users have to go through a training period which includes a short lecture about lab policy and basic atomic force, electron or light microscopy. Afterwards users will be trained individually on the respective microscope. In order to use additional equipment (critical point dryer, sputter coater etc.) the potential user will be trained individually.
After users are familiar with the microscope and feel confident to use the respective microscope and equipment independently they will achieve an approved user status. With this status they can book and use the instruments anytime.
Besides using the microscopes independently they can also be used under supervision. Please contact the director for details.
Group Training Sessions
Group training sessions for each individual microscope are offered every three months. In urgent cases individual training sessions can be arranged.
